Erin - Best Nurse of All Time

Though I was wondering about her "steer into the turn" advice when I had a fever on Sunday (take a tepid shower) - the fact that I am nearing "healthy" again so soon speaks volumes.

I love this woman.

Crazy in Oak Park

Aaron has come down with a nasty cold that has left him completely and totally wiped out. The poor guy was looking forward to a weekend of relaxing and hanging out with me and what he got was a weekend full of cold medicine, tepid showers (to get rid of his fever), and mindless television. At last conversation today, he was sounding a little better (albeit as stuffy as a blueblood at the annual regatta) but he did sound a little better.

As for me, I'm just being me. Stressed out me. Ready to go at any second me.

Why? you ask...
The Good: When my friend and coworker Donna left for another job, I was given the opportunity to work on her projects. This is good because it paved the way for advancement opportunities for me.
Another Good: There has been so much rearranging in our departmetn regarding people's jobs, that the powers that be opened up two positions, both promotions, to all of the senior editors. I interviewed for an Executive Editor position.
Yet, another good: My favorite work team, the new employee orientation team, was charged with the task of providing training to new employees regarding specific policies in our organization. Genius that I strive to be, I created a continuous education program that allows people to be trained on a monthly basis. The CEO loves it!

The Bad:
Doing my friend's old job has meant that I'm doing her job on top of mine with no extra pay. I'm essentially doing work that it took two people to do. This has brought me many headaches, stomachaches, and a plethora of anxiety attacks.

The interview? Funny thing about our organization. All six of us interviewing for the promotions interviewed on the same day. The managers made their selections, but didn't unveil this information with the rest of us. They then met with the Executive level folks, who then met with higher folks. Today, the CEO and Senior Director were due to discuss the information. Once everyone agrees, HR has to process the paperwork. This could take weeks. Essentially, the managers know who it is they want but can't divulge until HR gets its act together....fun!!!

That fun orientation project? It's a lot of work.

Needless to say I'm stressed and trying not to take it out on Poor Aaron, although I don't think I'm doing a good job of keeping my stress to myself....

In other words...

I am falling in love with her.

Every time I read this entry from Aaron's blog, I fall in love with him all over again....

Erin and I continue to grow closer. We played Trivial Persuit on Monday night. How is that for something that "official couples" do? We dance in the kitchen to oldies while dinner is cooking. We grocery shop together. Sometimes, on Monday nights, she takes my list and does all the work without telling me. And if she ever asked me - I would do the same for her - heck - I am figuring out something nice I can do for her right now without her asking me... (like last week, when she was down, I bought bath crystals for her so she could have a nice bath by herself). One of the reasons I write this stuff, both here, and in my personal journal, is because, someday, when the inevitable happens, and we have our first "fight" - I want to look back on stuff like this and go back to this time - the honeymoon phase - which - while I would like it to last forever (and parts of it will) - I am realistic enough to know not to expect too much (expecting it to ALWAYS be like this, rather than be like this SOMETIMES, or even MOST of the time).

Countdown - 30 more days

One month and counting until our move date! Let the stresses begin!!!
